As of 2010, we will no longer be taking names for
puppies. I expect to have a litter early that year but have several homes
waiting. After that, I will seriously consider the direction I will be taking
with my fur babies. Being involved in rescue has overwhelmed my heart, and I
find it increasingly more difficult to intentionally breed when there are so
many homeless babies who need my time and attention. I know there is a place for
specific, well-bred hunting dogs...I married into a family of hunters...but I'm
just not sure that's where my energies will be. Good luck in your search for the
perfect Boykin!

Now THOSE are puppy eyes!

THIS is what makes the Boykin a great
dog...the best of both worlds!
(That's Seger behind Rhett, a Marley x Razor pup)
Congratulations to Jay for Rhett passing
his hip OFA certification! He will now be able to pass along his extreme drive
and strong hunting bloodlines to future Cache River Boykin pups.

Like
most of us who live with Boykin Spaniels, it didn't take long to
become amazed by this dog. After spending only a short time with one, I knew this was the dog for us. Beautiful,
intelligent, friendly, loyal retrievers and companions...what more could we ask
for in a dog?
After falling in love with our first Boykins, we wanted
to give others what these special dogs have given us. That's how
Cache River Boykins began. We have OFA/CERF clearances and make
sure our Boykins have what it takes to be retrievers and
companions before we breed. Our Boykins are part of the family, not
just kenneled dogs with a job to do.
They have acres on which to run, play and hunt. When they are not working on birds and bumpers,
they are retrieving tennis balls, stuffed animals…whatever is tossed into their path.
Add to that a frequent dip in the pool and life can not be any better for a Boykin!
I'm often asked if I will sell my puppies to pet homes since several
Boykin breeders "prefer" performance or hunting homes. My first
requirement for a new puppy home is love and attention. Boykins must
first be a member of the family. If you hunt, that's great...Boykins
were originally bred to hunt. Our pups
are from strong hunting lines and have proven themselves to be fantastic hunters.
But Boykins live to love and please their owners...so if you want a companion to take walks with, a "greeter" at your place
of work or just a friend to spend your active days with, you will not be put on the
bottom of my list!

**My puppies will NOT be advertised
in newspapers, ALL parents have health clearances and are registered with the Boykin
Spaniel Society. If you see our "Cache River Boykin" name, please ask if
they are my puppies!**
